The East Lancashire Railway

Running between Heywood and Rawtenstall with immediate stations at Bury Bolton Street, Burrs Country Park, Summerseat, Ramsbottom and Irwell Vale is The East Lancashire Railway at 12 and a half mile long.

On the 3rd of June 1972 passenger services between Rawtenstall and Bury were withdrawn by British Rail and official closure followed 10 years later. However the line was re-opened on the 25th of July 1987 by The East Lancashire Railway Trust.  The original service operated between Bury and Ramsbottom to reach Rawtenstall through Irwell Vale.
